Mizbee {Songwriting, Sirens and the Relationship Between Your Life and Your Output}

In conversation with the Vocalist and Songwriter

This episode is with Mizbee, a powerhouse vocalist and songwriter whose voice has travelled from Newcastle’s drum & bass clubs to the world’s biggest house stages. Cutting her teeth MCing at nights like Curves and Turbulence, Mizbee became known for improvising live vocals over sets from Aphrodite, Fabio & Grooverider and 808 State. After moving to London in 2012, she lent her unmistakable tone to projects with Jansons, Mark Jenkyns and Hot Creations, crafting club anthems like “Sirens” that have been played everywhere from Ibiza to Miami by Jamie Jones, Solardo and The Martinez Brothers. More recently she has collaborated with Gaskin, Jansons, Luuk Van Dijk, Nesi and Ellia Jaya.

We first crossed paths in Brighton in 2021, when I told her I wanted to work together one day — and now, four years later, our new track is out. In this conversation we dig into the collaboration process between electronic producers and vocalists, Fay’s path from Newcastle’s to London, to Brighton and back to Newcastle again, baby brain and how she approaches writing and performing.
